KRISTINA OLSEN & PETER GRAYLINGkristina and peter

Kristina (USA) has performed at many festivals, clubs, arts centres etc. and is one of our all time favourite artists. She is a fine instrumentalist - acoustic guitar, steel bodied slide-guitar, saxophone, concertina and piano, as well as a powerful songwriter with a big bluesy voice. With her mix of strong songs in the troubadour tradition, some jazz-inspired sounds and powerful bottleneck blues make for diverse and satisfying musical experience.
Peter Grayling (Australia) is a botanist by profession and a classically trained cellist. He and Kristina met during one of her many trips to Australia and New Zealand. They have recorded two albums together, 'Duet' and 'Truth of a Woman'. To see and hear Kristina is an experience, to catch Kristina and Peter together is a rare treat indeed. This is the first opportunity in 4 years...so don’t miss it! Kristina has a new cd out too ..’Quiet Blue’
Peter Grayling - cello, mandocello and mandolin

CHRIS WHILE & JULIE MATTHEWS

Best Duo – BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards 2009
Internationally acclaimed, Chris & Julie continue to be a leading force on the UK's acoustic/roots arts circuit. Their songs cover life as they see it, from the industrial waste lands of the north, to injustice and freedom, matters of the heart and everything in between. Chris and Julie have nine duo albums and a songbook to their credit as well as six solo albums between them, a Blue Tapestry album and five St Agnes Fountain CDs. While & Matthews' musical partnership and obvious joy of performing together really brings their songs to life. As performers they are unrivalled.
I have become one of their biggest fans as a result of listening to their superb output. They are what I most admire, intelligent and musical with attitude. Barbara Dickson
These women far outclass their many famous American cousins, and prove just how immediate and powerful well-written and performed music can still be. Awe- inspiring. -Dirty Linen

Rachel Harrington rachel harrington

and Rod Clements

Rachel's critically acclaimed 2007 debut went to #1 on the Euro-Americana Chart and landed her in the centre of the UK Americana scene when legendary BBC dj Bob Harris proclaimed Bootlegger's Daughter one of the best albums of the year.
City of Refuge (2008)farms personal and mythical stories from the American West.  In 2009, after two years spent mostly on the road touring internationally (including Glasgow Americana Festival and the Maverick Festival) she released a live album, In The Woods - a document of those years on the road.
2010 sees Rachel back on the road and returning to Carlisle, with the new album's official release set for November 1, 2010.
" ... Harrington's music often sounds like it could date from the 1850s ... a rough-hewn country voice ..songs with a rural setting that touch on love and death. Some are traditional, some original, but the old-timey feel remains constant. The playing is stellar, and Harrington convincingly re-creates the sound of a mountain singer." - FOUR STARS

keith and lesXMAS PARTY with 'Idiot and Friend' aka Keith Donnelly and Les Barker.

At the 2005 Australian National Festival (which attracted 55,000 people!) Les Barker and Keith Donnelly were billed at a special sell-out concert as “The Laughing Stock of Great Britain”. The idea for “Idiot and Friend” came about when they decided to share the stage rather than do their normal individual sets. The audience was treated to a very special fusion of two very (VERY) great comedy talents, and simply refused to let the dynamic duo get off the stage!

Keith has written substantial live Stand-Up routines and TV material for the likes of Phil Cool and Jasper Carrott, as well as having written for TV companies.
In the last ten years Keith has played at literally hundreds of festivals, colleges and universities, arts centres and theatres, comedy clubs, etc. worldwide.
Les Barker writes strange poems and comes from originally from Manchester, but he's now Welsh. He was an accountant before he became a professional idiot. He's written 77 books, which sell in large numbers at his gigs because people don't quite believe what they've just heard. His poems have spawned a number of folk heroes: Jason and the Arguments, Cosmo the Fairly Accurate
Knife Thrower, Captain Indecisive and Spot of the Antarctic, to name but two.
Les began his career as assistant to Mrs Ackroyd, a small hairy mongrel who lay around in folk clubs, bit people and became famous.

Please book early to avoid disappointment ..
